Lisbon Guide 2025
Lisbon is more than just a gentle breeze under a bright sun or the cool waves of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s our second home, our retreat, it’s the place where we’ve shared days and nights with friends, had emotional dinners, danced until sunrise with handmade margaritas, and built memories that last a lifetime. Every recommendation here carries a piece of our story, and we hope it adds magic to yours, too.
PS: After traveling many times to many places, we figured every adventure is chosen by the individual. It’s a matter of living in the moment and enjoying the new things, not a matter of FOMO. So please don’t get overwhelmed by the magnitude of information, trust Lisbon and everything it has to offer. We assure you; it will feel like home every single moment
-
Alfama
This neighbourhood has historic old town vibes and is best for a tuktuk ride. You can see the Sé Cathedral and the São Jorge Castle. Also got some nice food tips here! Try Listambul for a Turkish – Portuguese fusion of “Little little into the middle”.
-
Baixa
Amazing history lies here, must see Praça do Comercio. Also good for a sunset drink in one of the classic “Kiosks” in Lisbon. Between Alfama and Baixa is Taberna Moderna, a true mediterranean cuisine plus a bar with over 70 gins and an artists touch on decoration.
-
Chiado
Shopping and theatre hub of Lisbon. You can enjoy the 16th-century poet Luís de Camões’s statue here. On the side, enjoy the traditional delicious pastry of Portugal: Pasteis de Nata!
-
Bairro Alto
Now you are climbing up only to catch one of the best Miradouro’s (viewpoint) we have cherished as a couple. Since we are a big margarita fan, CARNAL always felt like home for Taco Tuesdays.
-
Principe Real
Our favorite neighborhood, because it's full of good restaurants and bars! We got our first Pisco Sour at A Cevicheria. After a couple dates, I was able to impress Benji with my research skill while drinking margaritas at Oysters & Margaritas, where she talked about the story of how she decided to stay in Lisbon. It was a brunch across the street at Seagull Method with some friends. This neighbourhood has tons of shopping, coffee, restaurants, eateries, rooftops. Browse the rest of our guide!
-
São Bento
Here you can see Palácio de São Bento and have a great steak at Café de São Bento, one of the signature restaurants of Lisbon. I remember taking Benji here just before Oysters & Margaritas (6 minutes walk man come on!). It was a surprise plan. It kind of worked 😎
-
São Paulo & Cais do Sodré
You have a lot of up and coming coffee shops, shopping spots, wine bars, tapas bars, cocktail bars, rooftops and the famous Pink Street here. Grab a coffee from Benji’s fav Comoba and my fav shopping spot PFL. You can grab an amazing Pizza from Lupita or a great burger from Neighbourhood. When its close to the sunset you can go to Java and watch the view where Benji found her dream house in Lisbon. You can always end the night at Pensão Amor *sigh*.
-
Lapa
The beautiful Basilica of Estrela is worth the trip. A fun fact: the park across the basilica is Jardim de Estrela, it’s the place we did Functional Training with Benji for the first time. And it’s the neighbourhood we celebrated the last Christmas with some of our beloved friends!
-
Campo Ourique
Teimar dinner still holds a special place in our hearts, as it was our first night in Lisbon with dearest friends. Also this neighbourhood has a museum called Casa Fernando Pessoa
-
Marvila & Beato
Probably one of the most theatric dinner we had in Lisbon was in Palácio do Grilo in Beato. Although Benji’s interest for art never ends, so if you share a similar interest, definitely take a trip to Madvila Art District (MAD). We suggest you visit MAD Gallery for artist showcases and 8 Marvila to get inspired by the power of transformation in Lisbon.
-
Belem
Can’t get enough of the history? Here lies more, from Torre de Belém to Monument to the Discoveries. This area accomodates the new and the old, beautiful Jerónimos Monastery and the MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology. In between all this, there is the historical bakery that served the first Pasteis de Nata.
-
We would highly encourage you to stay either central Lisbon or near Costa Caparica. But personally speaking, being inside Lisbon is always the best choice, since its easy to walk around the city.
We tried adding options for every kind of budget you might be looking for!
Since Lisbon is very active in tourism, you can always check AirBnB for a different taste!
